Our Heritage and Mission
Rockin’ 5 B Border Collies, established in 2022 in Santa Fe, Texas, is proud to continue the esteemed McCallum bloodline. Acquiring this lineage from Kent Smith, a steward of the McCallum dogs for over four decades, we aim to uphold and enhance these traits in every pup we raise. Our mission is to provide families and working environments with border collies that are not only skilled but also loyal companions.
Tony McCallum, from Australia, introduced the McCallum Bloodline to the United States in the early 1980s when he brought his dogs over here and distributed them almost exclusively through Kent Smith. This bloodline of border collies is well-known for being cattle dogs, with a more natural working ability and good stock sense. Rockin’ 5 B’s goal is to carry on the McCallum Tradition of breeding the highest quality of working border collies in America.
Meet Our Exceptional Dogs
All McCallum dogs currently in The United States originated from Boss, Tim and Crystal who came from Australia with Tony McCallum. Our border collies, which came from Kent Smith with 100% McCallum genetics, include the following:
KSS Bossy
Bossy, an own daughter of McCallum’s Boss, is one of our brood females.
KSS MC Sis
Sis is the only daughter of McCallum’s Tim in existence and her dam is an own daughter of McCallum’s Boss. Sis is another one of our brood females.
KSS MC Bossman
KSS MC Bossman is the youngest McCallum’s Boss son in the world, with McCallum’s Sis as his dam. We will be using Bossman extensively in our breeding program.
KSS MC Tim
KSS MC Tim is the last own son of McCallum’s Tim left in the world. His dam is KSS Bossy, the own daughter of McCallum’s Boss. We will be using Tim extensively in our breeding program.
KSS MC Kuna
Kuna is the stout son out of KSS MC Tim (own son of McCallum’s Tim) and KSS MC Kate, who is sired by Rip and out of Bossy (own daughter of McCallum’s Boss). This mating was done previously, producing all males. After seeing how good these males were, Kent Smith decided he needed a female bred the same way for his breeding program. This resulted in Kate, one of the best-producing Rip daughters.
Kuna was Kent Smith’s pick of the litter from Tim and Kate. The intent was to ship Kuna as a pup to Tom McCallum in Australia. However, circumstances developed, and Kuna was started on sheep and cattle at 10 months old here. He exhibited a lot of natural ability, balance, livestock sense, and plenty of bite. Therefore, Kuna remained in the US, and we have recently acquired him as part of our McCallum group.
Delta
With 100% McCallum genetics, Delta is the true definition of an excellent producer of a cow dog. She is good with pairs and feeder cattle. Delta is extremely gritty but also has the herd sense to move stock with ease and can hold her ground.
KSS Boss Lady
KSS Boss Lady is one of the last daughters of McCallum’s Boss. Her dam is KSS MC Sis, who is the only daughter of McCallum’s Tim in existence. She is another one of our brood females.

Breeze, Melba, and Splash (all 3 years old) are granddaughters of McCallum’s Tim. These females will ensure that we will be able to provide future 100% McCallum bloodline border collies.
Rare Opportunity to Obtain 100% McCallum Genetics
We’re excited to announce two new additions to Rockin’ 5B Border Collies – R5B Rocky and JL June. Both dogs are 100% McCallum genetics and come from very strong, proven pedigrees. These additions allow Rockin’ 5B Border Collies to continue preserving the McCallum bloodline while offering quality prospects for the future, and we’re looking forward to what’s ahead with them.
JL June
June’s sire, Otto, was an outstanding cattle dog with plenty of bite and intensity. Otto’s grandsire, Sledge, and his granddam, Roo, were both sired by McCallum’s Boss, adding even more strength to her pedigree. June’s dam, Jewel, is the result of breeding a Tim son back to an own daughter of McCallum’s Boss. June’s elite pedigree includes McCallum’s Boss five times and McCallum’s Tim four times. At just two and a half years old, June has a very bright future ahead, and we’re extremely excited to see what’s to come.
R5B Rocky
Rocky’s dam is KSS MC Sis, who is pretty special to us. Sis is the only daughter of McCallum’s Tim in existence, and her dam is a daughter of McCallum’s Boss, making her lineage something truly rare. With strong working blood behind her on both sides, Sis passes on an incredible foundation, and we’re excited to see what Rocky brings to the future.
R5B Rocky’s sire is KSS MC Rip. Rip is a big-boned, big-headed dog with a lot of strength and presence, especially as a head dog. He is built solid and works with confidence, and he is 100% McCallum foundation genetics, adding even more depth and consistency to Rocky’s pedigree.
Breeding Program
It is our goal to provide quality pups that will have both the ability to work and the desire to please. We feel the group we have put together will provide both characteristics. All of our dogs have a very good disposition. All adult dogs are kept up to date with their vaccinations.
We make sure that all of our pups are kept up to date on vaccinations from birth until the day they leave us. We also make sure the pups are properly socialized (with the help of our 7 grandchildren) before leaving. We are excited about preserving and offering the McCallum bloodline from the females we recently obtained.

Sire
The sire is a son of the legendary TIM dog, who dominated the dog-trial world throughout the 1990s. Weighing in at 58 pounds of solid muscle and size, he consistently throws pups that can handle a full day’s work while remaining level-headed and family-friendly companions off the job. With this being the last living son of Tim in the world, this lineage is truly irreplaceable – an opportunity that will not come again.
Dam
The dam, KSS MC Lady, is the daughter of McCallum’s Boss, another iconic dog who helped define trial competition in the 1990s. Boss offspring are known for adding a touch of that classic Border Collie softness, while still accepting correction with excellent feel and responsiveness. Together, this pairing brings power, intelligence, balance, and durability, making these pups well-suited for serious ranch work, competition prospects, or knowledgeable working homes seeking proven genetics.
